Historian compiles notable Commencement addresses into book

Notre Dame Press has released “Go Forth and Do Good: Memorable Notre Dame Commencement Addresses” by Rev. Wilson D. Miscamble, C.S.C., professor of history at the University of Notre Dame and rector and superior of Moreau Seminary.p. The book compiles 24 notable graduation speeches, ranging from the words of Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman—the University’s first nationally recognized speaker—in 1865 to those of President George W. Bush in 2001. Also included is a letter sent to 1986 graduates by Mother Teresa as well as the perspectives upon retirement of longtime University president, Rev. Theodore M. Hesburgh, C.S.C., to the class of 1987.p.
