David E. Campbell, assistant professor of political science at the University of Notre Dame, is the 2004 co-recipient of the E.E. Schattschneider Award from the American Political Science Association for the best dissertation in the field of American government.p. TitledHow Communities and Schools Shape Civic Engagement,Campbells dissertation focuses on the roles of schools and communities in encouraging political participation.p. Campbell earned his doctorate from Harvard University in 2002 and joined the Notre Dame faculty that fall. He specializes in American politics, political participation, religion and politics, and education policy and is a faculty fellow of Notre Dames Institute for Educational Initiatives.p.
