Therese Cory and many other Catholics didn’t expect a pope from the United States, thinking the Roman Catholic Church wouldn’t want to overdo the U.S.'s prominence on the world stage. Then again, the associate professor at the University of Notre Dame said, Pope Leo XIV seems to embrace the dialog and the world-focused missionary church that was so important to the late Pope Francis.
