As CDC Moratorium Ends, Advocate Says St. Joseph County Has Eviction, Affordable Housing Crisis

St. Joseph County evictions rise to near pre-pandemic levels as tenants struggle

“The COVID piece of this is a crisis because we don’t want more people running around looking for housing and being homeless,” said Judith Fox, a professor at the Notre Dame Clinical Law Center.

The eviction moratorium is extended until October. How to get help whether you're a landlord or a tenant.

“There are millions of dollars out there in the community, for people to get help and so this hopefully will give a little bit more time to get that money and get the landlords paid, because we want the landlords to be paid, but we want the tenants to not be homeless,” said Judy Fox, Notre Dame Law School Clinical Professor.
