“Within Your Gates: The Forum for the Universal Vocation of Jerusalem” is born, a new interdisciplinary forum promoted by Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and developed in collaboration with the academic center of the University of Notre Dame. “Each of us felt that something in our souls had died. Cardinal Pizzaballa’s invitation was, first and foremost, to listen deeply and compassionately to others, without an attitude of moral superiority, but in order to learn from them,” explains Daniel Schwake, Director of Notre Dame Jerusalem and of the Advisory Committee of Within Your Gates.

The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, will present this Monday, September 7, Within Your Gates, a new interdisciplinary research forum that will bring together scholars and professionals from different confessions and disciplines to study the universal vocation of Jerusalem and seek answers to the conflicts affecting the Holy Land. The initiative, developed in collaboration with the academic center of the University of Notre Dame in Jerusalem, stems from more than three years of cooperation and aims to address both the religious dimension of the Holy City and specific issues related to the coexistence of its inhabitants.

The initiative has been developed in partnership with the University of Notre Dame’s academic centre in Jerusalem and will bring together scholars and practitioners from different faith traditions and academic disciplines. The forum will be led by Dr Daniel Schwake and builds on more than three years of cooperation with the University of Notre Dame’s academic centre in Jerusalem and other colleagues from the university.
