The University of Notre Dame School of Architecture has been ranked among the top 10 institutions in the annual America’s Best Architecture Schools survey by the Design Futures Council.
The survey asked architectural leaders to evaluate which programs have graduates who are best prepared for professional practice. In a separate skill assessment query, the firms surveyed also singled out Notre Dame School of Architecture graduates for exceptional communications skills.
In the 2009 survey, the School of Architecture ranked 10th, rising two spots from its No. 12 ranking in 2008. Cornell University ranked No. 1, up from second place last year.
For the past 10 years, the Design Futures Council and the journal DesignIntelligence have produced a ranking of the architecture schools that best prepare students for professional practice. The results are determined through a poll of firms and organizations that hire graduates. Hundreds of the country’s leading firms participate, in addition to deans and chairs from top academic programs.
Notre Dame’s School of Architecture is one of 122 architecture schools accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Most state registration boards in the U.S. require a degree from an accredited professional degree program as a prerequisite for licensure.
