Mary Nucciarone, associate director of financial aid at the University of Notre Dame, has been elected to the board of trustees of the College Board. In addition, she will serve as the chair of the College Scholarship Service Assembly and Council which provides the College Board with guidance on policies, practices and standards concerning the economic aspects of college attendance. As chair she will link communication information from the Council and Board.

Nucciarone will serve on the 31-member board for a four-year term beginning Nov. 1.

“The members of this assembly have the responsibility to mentor the next generation of education professionals,” Nucciarone said in a speech last month at a meeting of the College Scholarship Service Assembly. “We share the responsibility for serving as the voice for the millions of young people who need advocates to open the doors of higher education.”

Founded in 1900, the College Board is a not-for-profit association representing more than 5,900 colleges, universities and schools. Its efforts to improve access to and readiness for higher education involve middle schools, high schools, community colleges, four-year colleges, policymakers and state education agencies. It also serves some 130,000 AP teachers and administers more than 3 million SAT exams annually.
