Brad Gregory, associate professor of history at the University of Notre Dame, has received the inaugural Hiett Prize in the Humanities from the Dallas Institute of Humanities and Culture.
Presented to a person who has not yet reached full potential but who has demonstrated extraordinary work in the humanities, the award includes a $50,000 cash prize. Gregory was chosen from a pool of 100 applicants.
A member of the Notre Dame faculty since 2003, Gregory specializes in early modern European history, the history of Christianity and the Reformation.He is the author ofSalvation at Stake: Christian Martyrdom in Early Modern Europe,which won several awards, including the Thomas J. Wilson Prize and the John Gilmary Shea Prize from the American Catholic Historical Association.
