Author, activist to share experience as undocumented immigrant in the U.S.

Author and activist José Ángel Navejas will share his experience as an undocumented immigrant in the U.S. with “Difficult Conversations” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 2) at the University of Notre Dame Center for Arts and Culture, 1045 W. Washington St., South Bend.

A native of Mexico, Navejas is a Ph.D. student in Hispanic studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the author of the memoir “Illegal: Reflections of an Undocumented Immigrant.”

In addition to immigration, Navejas’ interests include Latino and 20th-century Mexican literature, Mexican authors’ perceptions of the Mexican migrant in the U.S., and Mexican authors’ relationships with American politics and culture.

Navejas’ talk is sponsored by the Gender Studies Program, Department of Anthropology, Institute for Latino Studies and Office of Community Relations. It is free and open to the public.
