Recognized for the fourth year in a row, the University of Notre Dame rises to sixth among large organizations in IDG’s Computerworld 2016 Best Places to Work in IT. The 23rd annual survey ranks organizations that provide challenging work for information technology employees while providing great benefits and compensation. Notre Dame is featured, along with other recognized organizations, in the June 13 digital edition of Computerworld and online at Computerworld.com.

“It is an honor for Notre Dame to have been recognized in this prominent ranking for four consecutive years,” said Ron Kraemer, vice president for information technology and chief information and digital officer. “The University’s commitment to creating a welcoming and positive environment allows us to hire and retain extraordinarily talented people. I am very proud to be a small part of this group of individuals who are dedicated to providing quality services to ensure the success of our students, faculty and staff.”

Notre Dame’s Office of Information Technologies (OIT) works collaboratively with other IT staff throughout the University to support faculty, staff and students. The OIT’s vision is to enhance and sustain service excellence in five key areas: teaching and learning, research and scholarship, campus life, University operations and support for Notre Dame’s Catholic mission. To do this, it focuses on delivering value, driving innovation and developing staff.

“The organizations on this year’s Best Places to Work in IT list excel at creating a dynamic and satisfying IT work environment,” said Scot Finnie, editor-in-chief of Computerworld. “In a competitive market for tech talent, these outstanding employers are able to attract highly skilled IT pros by offering great benefits, new learning opportunities, access to cutting-edge technologies and challenging, business-critical projects.”

The Best Places to Work in IT list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by IDG’s Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
