McCartan will chair Board of Trustees through 2007

Patrick McCartan was unanimously re-elected as chairman of the University of Notre Dame’s Board of Trustees today, extending his tenure to 2007.p. “I appreciate the confidence and support of the Notre Dame board,” McCartan said, “and I look forward to helping Notre Dame fulfill the promise of a great university.”p. McCartan, of Cleveland, is senior partner of the international law firm Jones Day. He has been a member of Notre Dame’s Board of Trustees since 1989 and was elected board chair and a Fellow of the University in 2000.p. Cited in surveys by The National Law Journal as one of the country’s most respected and influential lawyers, he has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The American Lawyer, and The Best Lawyers in America. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, as well as an honorary overseas member of the English Commercial Bar. He earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Notre Dame and received an honorary doctorate from the University in 1999.
