Former ambassador for religious freedom to speak at ND

Robert A. Seiple, former U.S. ambassador at large for international religious freedom, will give a lecture entitled “Religious Freedom: From Human Rights to Realpolitik,” on Tuesday (Oct. 1) at 3 p.m. in the auditorium of Notre Dame’s Hesburgh Center for International Studies.p. Seiple was appointed the first U.S. ambassador for religious freedom by President Clinton in 1999, after Congress specified the issue of religious freedom as an official concern of the nation’s foreign policy. Before his appointment, he had served as president of World Vision, Inc., the largest privately funded relief and development agency in the world. He also is former president of Eastern College and Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary at St. Davids, Pa.p.
