Recognized for the third year in a row, the University of Notre Dame ranks ninth among large organizations in IDG’s Computerworld 2015 Best Places to Work in IT. The 22nd annual survey ranks organizations that provide challenging work for information technology employees while providing great benefits and compensation. Notre Dame is featured, along with other recognized organizations, in the June 22nd digital edition of Computerworld.

“It is an honor to be recognized for a third year in a row. The University’s commitment to creating a welcoming and positive environment allows us to hire and retain talented people who help deliver the services that our students, faculty and staff need,” said Ron Kraemer, vice president for information technology and chief information and digital officer.

Notre Dame’s Office of Information Technologies (OIT) works collaboratively with other IT staff throughout the University to support faculty, staff and students. The OIT’s vision is to enhance and sustain service excellence in five key areas: teaching and learning, research and scholarship, campus life, University operations and support for Notre Dame’s Catholic mission. To do this, the office focuses on delivering value, driving innovation and developing its staff.

“The 100 organizations on Computerworld’s 2015 Best Places to Work in IT list realize that attracting and retaining a highly skilled technology workforce leads to competitive advantage,” said Scot Finnie, editor-in-chief of Computerworld. “In a tight market for tech talent, these outstanding employers attract the best and brightest IT pros with generous salaries and top-drawer benefits, then deepen their teams’ engagement with challenging, business-critical projects built around cutting-edge technologies. As a result, these winning organizations are best positioned to take advantage of the digital transformation sweeping through every industry.”

The Best Places to Work in IT list is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by IDG’s Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company offerings in categories such as benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers, and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.

Technology-based services continue to be key components that help Notre Dame deliver an unsurpassed undergraduate education, outstanding research and operational excellence. The Office of Information Technologies at Notre Dame is dedicated to partnering with campus groups and finding the right solutions.
