"Rev. John I. Jenkins, C.S.C.":http://president.nd.edu, president of the University of Notre Dame, appeared on a segment of ""Charlie Rose":http://www.hulu.com/watch/608209" on PBS on Wednesday (March 12). Father Jenkins discussed Pope Francis' first year in office with Rose; Rev. James Martin, editor-at-large at America magazine; and Miguel Diaz, professor of faith and culture at the University of Dayton. Father Jenkins spoke of the Pope's warmth and appeal on the show. "His first line in that interview from the Jesuit publication was, 'I'm a sinner' -- almost to say to move back from the aloofness of the papacy and say, 'I'm like you and we are in this together.' I think that's what resonates with people. He shares the burdens and the struggles that we share. "I would say on this one-year anniversary he certainly captured the imagination of Catholics but of the world. I have non-Catholics more interested than even Catholics. But I think he has been an inspiring, evocative, wonderful presence. The question is, will his papacy be transformative? I think it has the potential to be transformative."
