Douglass descendants warmly welcomed in Ireland

Nettie Washington Douglass and her son Kenneth Morris, direct descendants of Frederick Douglass, are warmly welcomed by Kevin Whelan, director of Notre Dame’s Dublin Center, at Daniel O’Connell’s former home now owned by the University. O’Connell, who worked to end slavery in the America’s from Ireland, became Douglass’ close friend during his visit to the Emerald Isle.
