Molecular technology, chemical sensors, optoelectronic materials and devices, water purification

Bohn’s research interests encompass molecular transport on the nanoscale, chemical sensors and molecular approaches to nanotechnology, including but not limited to handheld devices for personalized health care and environmental monitoring applications (lab-on-a-chip). He served as editor for the Americas for the Royal Society of Chemistry journal Analyst from 2007-09 and is currently chair of the editorial board for Analyst, as well as a member of the editorial board for Annual Review of Analytical Chemistry. Bohn also serves as project director for the Advanced Diagnostics and Therapeutics Initiative, one of five inaugural Strategic Research Initiatives established in 2008 at Notre Dame. Bohn has received a number of awards and recognitions and has six patents issued and one pending.
